About this course:
This course shows new and experienced teachers how to support their students and develop the necessary foundation skills for good ringing and then move forward to ringing changes.
You will learn through a mixture of practical and classroom sessions

- Plain Hunting
The practical exercises approach learning in small structured steps and are delivered in a way that is entertaining for the new ringer whilst the theory sessions cover foundation skills, teaching theory, running practices, team building and how to motivate and retain your ringers.
Module 2F practical sessions have a greater focus on the foundation skills – how to teach call changes, an exploration of kaleidoscope ringing, and different ways to introduce covering and Plain Hunt.
Theory sessions include the development of coaching skills.
Delegates are advised to bring along a packed lunch / picnic, or there is a pub nearby which serves lunches.

|Event Prerequisites||The ability to ring plain hunt doubles on any bell, raise and lower in peal and demonstrate confident bell control whilst ringing.|

Lesley Boyle has been ringing for over forty years and has a wide breadth of experience from multi- doubles peals to peals of maximus in hand and tower. She was a participant in winning bands in the National 12 bell competition in her youth, and is now a Tower Captain teaching young and not-so- young learners. She is also local District Ringing Master, serves on the Ely Association Recruitment and Training Committee, and helps with group teaching at the local ART hub. She says “I’ve gained a lot of pleasure out of ringing over the years and want to pass this on to others. I’ve realised through teaching many people to handle that everyone benefits if they’re taught well – the learners progress more quickly and the band is supportive with less frustration. I want ART module attendees to have confidence in teaching handling and foundation skills, and get that buzz out of seeing their own learners’ achievements.”
